BallyCastle

The project has been of enormous benefit to Ballycastle. It has regenerated one of Ireland’s most popular town seafronts. The introduction of the water feature, the first of its kind, in the British Isles, has proved to be an attraction in itself for all age groups.

The scheme included a number of elements besides the water feature these included.. Ornamental lighting, pathways upgrading and extension and interpretative panels depicting the history/heritage, myth/legend and industrial heritage of the area. These have had the effect of stimulating the interest of visitors to the town so-much-so that they now tend to stay longer to investigate some of the information contained in the panels. All in all the Seaside Town Interreg initiative has dramatically enhanced the image of Ballycastle.
